The Brussels office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP seeks a Practice Support Coordinator to join the Brussels Practice Support Team. The Practice Support Coordinator will work under the direction of the Senior Practice Support Coordinator and in conjunction with firm staff attorneys and associates to provide support for the office at large in case management and litigation support. Duties include providing user support on litigation support software and hardware; preparing production copies of data on selected media and provides instruction to recipient on how to view data; tracking media and data for litigation matters; assisting in training attorneys and paralegals on document databases; and providing progress reports to designated Senior Staff Attorney regarding various litigation technology projects.

Successful candidates will have knowledge of the application and management of practice support technology platforms and databases including Concordance, IPRO, and third-party databases used by the Firm such as Kroll and Attenex; solid command of Microsoft applications; excellent command of English language; demonstrated interest in litigation technology; the ability to work on own initiative and in a team based environment; strong administrative skills e.g. accuracy, attention to detail, efficiency; excellent analytical skills; a professional ethic and manner; and the ability to work under pressure and to adhere to deadlines. Experience with JFS Litigator's Notebook, proficiency in a second European language a plus. Reports to: Network Manager

Summary:  This position is responsible for supporting the stable operation of the in-house computing infrastructure in a team environment, with specific emphasis on network storage systems, server virtualization, and email systems. This individual will apply proven skills to solve issues and provide exceptional customer service related to the deployment of mission-critical backend systems software and hardware.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan for, install, administer, and maintain network storage to meet project and firm needs; including hardware preparation (disk analysis, etc.), OS and applications load, configuration and administration.
• Install, administer, monitor, and maintain virtual server systems to meet project and firm needs; including the allocation of addition of ports, disk drives, memory upgrades, and related equipment.
• Plan for, install, administer, and maintain the firm's email systems to insure maximum availability.
• Evaluate network storage needs of the firm. Make hardware recommendations and implement new hardware projects.  Participate in computer hardware evaluations, planning and implementation of applications.
• Facilitate and oversee vendor's services and monitor performance of storage and/or server upgrades with project teams and users as required to ensure maximum system availability and reliability.
• Develop, implement and maintain guidelines, procedures, and associated training plans for network storage administration and appropriate use.
• Develop, implement and maintain guidelines, procedures, and associated training plans for server virtualization and appropriate use.
• Assist other IT teams to coordinate, develop and recommend the design of functionally centralized and distributed information systems to meet the needs of the firm.
• Coordinate, develop, and execute programs for continual measurement of the firm's information systems, and storage hardware performance and effectiveness.  Evaluate reports to identify and correct deficiencies and irregular operations.
• Recommend hardware/software or corrective action as needed to assure performance requirements for continuity of service, system response time, security, reporting, backup and recovery are met.
• Pursue a formal and informal program of continuing education to keep informed of new developments and sharpen skills to insure that the firm is taking optimal advantage of existing and new technologies.
• Establish, coordinate, recommend and maintain storage and virtualization standards and procedures to support the needs of the firm.
• Participate in overall network administration, maintenance and standards implementation.
• Assist in the preparation of annual IT budget and meet annual budget targets.
• Follow documented processes for change control and patch management.
• Travel, if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating systems, SQL Server, and Exchange Server in addition to implementation and support of Active Directory and DNS, Microsoft SMS/System Center
• Demonstrable knowledge of Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Attached Networks (SANS) and server virtualization.
• 8+ years experience with a large WAN and multiple LANs; WAN support experience required.
• 5+ years supporting SAN/NAS Storage technologies, specific experience with NetApp storage systems preferred.
• 5+ years supporting NetApp SnapManager products in a business continuity function over large geographical areas preferred.
• 5+ years experience supporting server virtualization technologies, specific experience with VMware preferred.
• 8+ years experience with installation and configuration of Network Operating Systems, specifically Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2008 Server preferred.
• Experience installing, configuring, using, and supporting Microsoft Exchange required; Exchange 2007 preferred.
• 8+ years experience with various types of server hardware required.
• Experience supporting mobile computing preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization, including interpersonal skills, are required.
• Strong customer service, analysis, troubleshooting, problem solving, follow-up, and follow-through skills are required.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience; experience working with customers and staff possessing a wide range of technical expertise is required.
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner required.
• A strong attention to detail and quality control required.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently required.
• Must be a team player and have ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
• Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization, supporting a multi-office environment, preferred.
