This position is responsible for: Managing all litigation technology support aspects of individual cases as assigned; being the single point of contact for case teams, IT staff, and vendors; assist case teams with planning and budgeting as it relates to discovery services; advising legal teams on database design, making processing recommendations to case teams; creating and loading data to databases and assisting with document productions.  Ideal candidate will be proficient with Concordance, IPRO, LiveNote and CaseMap.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, be detail oriented, strong client service and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment under strict deadlines. APPLICATION SPECIALIST/PROGRAMMER

We are currently seeking an Application Specialist/Programmer to join our Information Services team.  This position requires an individual with proven experience, a strong client service orientation and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the shared development and implementation of SharePoint, workflows and applications to support infrastructure and operational processes.
• Provide second level support to the Helpdesk to deal with and respond to end user problems and follow through to resolution.
• Implement, upgrade, modify and support existing internally developed applications.
• Support other IS staff through programming efforts in regards to modifications needed for firm applications and automated processes.
• Assist in the development of procedures including the creation of documentation to support these procedures.
• Assist team in reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business processes and end user needs to support business requirements.
• Assess, test and implement software (including version updates) and security patches to supported third party applications.
• Participate in internal projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3+ years Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, Windows SharePoint Services (WSS), SharePoint Designer, Web Parts and Workflow Development.
• 3+ years experience with Microsoft.Net including C#, ASP.Net 2.0/3.5, SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services, Visual Basic/VBA, Crystal Reports, MS Office, COM, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, ActiveDirectory.
• Technical experience in document management and financial reporting systems such as Elite is preferred.
• Technical experience in a legal or professional environment is an asset.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, time management and customer relations' skills.
• 4 years experience in designing, testing and implementing applications.
• Analytical and problem solving skills necessary to troubleshoot and provide user support.
• Ability to interpret computer system concepts into user terms.
• A diploma/degree in information technology.

Reports to the Infrastructure Technology Manager

The Application Specialist will be responsible for assessing end user needs, evaluating software products, integrating applications, managing implementation projects and providing high level support.  Advanced technical knowledge of existing legal applications is essential.  Basic knowledge of database (SQL) and web servers is preferred.  This position will install, test, configure, implement, and document software applications that support all aspects of the firm's operation.  Excellent customer service and organizational skills are necessary as this position will interface with user at all levels within the firm.

Job Responsibilities
• Install, configure and test a variety of client, server and web based applications.
• Work with vendors and end users to configure, troubleshoot and research.
• Work with engineering staff to test and deploy applications, updates and patches.
• Manage deployment schedules to minimize user interruption.
• Work with Helpdesk staff to resolve escalated application issues.
• Document problem resolutions and educate Helpdesk staff.
• Troubleshoot technical issues relating to the firm's practice support  tools.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Two to five years of application support experience in a legal environment.
• Experience with following applications:

  • Microsoft Office 2007, 2010
  • Microsoft Windows XP, 7
  • OpenText DM
  • Carpe Diem time entry
  • LexisNexis InterAction
  • Experience with legal specific applications

• Strong hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting
• Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Work effectively in a demanding, fast paced environment.
• Willingness to be available during business off-hours and carry a Blackberry.
• Flexibility to work extended hours on short notice.
