WilmerHale, a successful international law firm with offices in 12 cities in the United States, Europe and Asia, seeks a Business Analyst in either Washington, DC or Dayton, Ohio. In collaboration with the Operational Project Manager, assists with the implementation of projects being managed by the Project Management Office (PMO). Through direct interaction with firm personnel, gathers, analyzes and evaluates the business requirements within and across departments, understand the administrative goals and objectives to position the firm for future success, and translates these requirements into projects that when implemented will improve business processes and productivity.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Actively participate in the preparation and publishing of quarterly Managers' Metrics Reports to firm management.
• In coordination with the Operational Project Manager, participate in discussions with department personnel to identify and document business needs and requirements, current operational procedures, problems, data scope, usage, etc.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, ensure a common understanding of project requirements, reconcile conflicts, and help set expectations in accordance with overall project objectives and deadlines.
• Assist with the identification and implementation of immediate and long-term solutions to departmental and firm wide operational challenges.
• Coordinate activities of project team, identify appropriate resources needed, develop schedules to ensure timely completion of project, and provide related reports for completing projects.
• Prepare project communications to all interested parties.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
• Contribute to the firm's Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Display professionalism, quality service and a "can do" attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
Education:
• BA/BS required.
Experience:
• 5+ years of relevant business work experience including a minimum of 2 years experience as the project leader of a team that successfully implemented business process improvements that increased productivity. Knowledge of law office processes a plus.
• Strong problem solving capabilities, analytical skills, initiative, organization knowledge/skills and deadline sensitivity.
• Proficiency with computer and reporting skills utilizing Microsoft office products, specifically high proficiency with Excel to manipulate data and transform data into pictures using chart functionality, and with Adobe Acrobat in creating and editing PDFs.
• Demonstrate experience and judgment through planning and accomplishing goals/objectives.
• Independently handle and execute multiple responsibilities, often with competing deadlines.
• Articulate, verbally and in writing, business concepts, principles, and best practices.
• Professionally measure and respond to all situations with an effective sense of urgency.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels.
