IT Training Project Specialist – IL – Chicago

The IT Training Project Specialist participates in project teams to assess training and support needs for new applications being implemented throughout the Firm, developing a training strategy and approach utilizing blended learning concepts, developing or leading the creation of supporting curriculum and content, and serving as the end-user advocate within the project team.  The position reports to the Firmwide Technology Training Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Design, develops, and delivers training strategies and solutions for new technology initiatives.  Actively participates in firmwide technology project teams from kickoff through implementation.  Acts as an advocate for end users.
Develops comprehensive learning solutions; from needs analysis and design through development, execution and evaluation.  Ensures design and delivery stay consistent with the identified learning goals and objectives.  Develops solutions that are engaging, innovative, and will meet learning objectives. 
Advises on how different delivery methods cater to individual learning styles, recommending and implementing appropriate blended learning solutions where appropriate.
Becomes a subject matter expert in specialized Firm applications in conjunction with project work or as needed with other technologies.
Collaborates with other office trainers to understand unique requirements to their office and creates firmwide training solutions that are consistent yet adaptable to meet the needs of the local offices.
Conducts virtual train-the-trainer sessions with other offices to ensure newly developed curriculum is delivered as designed.  Ensures training stays consistent across offices by maintaining open communication with the local trainer and makes sound decisions on adapting materials to fit local needs.
Continuously improves the quality of existing curriculum and content through evaluation and collaboration with users and IT sponsors.  Ensures materials remain current and accurate.
Recommends areas for improvement to achieve and deliver higher quality service to our end users.
Stays up-to-date with current trends in training, technology, and instructional delivery methods.
Serves as a backup to Chicago instructors and conducts training classes as needed.

Education and/or Experience: 

Required:
Must have previous Law Firm experience.
Must be proficient in application of instructional design, curriculum design, and adult learning principals.  Must have a solid understanding of business needs analysis and change management.
Possesses strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative, geographically dispersed team environment
Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to write clear and accurate software and training documentation.
Displays a sense of urgency, flexibility, attention-to-detail and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to manage a large number of projects concurrently with the ability to prioritize quickly without loss of detail.
Displays willingness to make decisions; and exhibits sound and accurate judgment. 
Must be able to lead others as project needs dictate, including contracted resources external to Sidley.
Advanced knowledge of Windows -based systems, particularly the Microsoft Office 2007 suite. Familiarity with document management systems and other legal applications is highly desirable (iManage Desksite/FileSite, redlining tools, Word numbering  applications). 
Must be flexible to work overtime, travel on occasion, accept tasks outside of normal job duties, and be open to assume new responsibilities if the needs of the department changes. 
Bachelor's Degree required. 

Preferred
Advanced degree or experience in instructional design or adult learning
