Major Purpose: 

To provide analytic and forensic support to Enforcement reviews and investigations, and specialized technical support to Enforcement litigation staff.

Essential Job Functions:

•         Actively assist with Enforcement investigations by leveraging forensic technology into the investigative process. 

•         Participate in Enforcement investigations by assisting the investigative staff with requests for electronic discovery, data analysis, database design, data retrieval from various enterprise databases, and analysis of electronic information recovered in the course of investigations or litigation.  

•         Assist in negotiating production of electronic information from member firms and their counsel. 

•         Assist with the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of Enforcement litigation support systems, provide ongoing support to Department personnel on all aspects of the Department's forensic and litigation support computing environment; serve as a technical resource for special technology projects involving litigation support and analytic or forensic investigative tools. 

• Assist in the maintenance of Enforcements forensic equipment and software. 
 
•         Assist in the presentation of evidence electronically at FINRA hearings.  

•         Candidate must be able to handle a deadline driven, diverse workload of multiple concurrent tasks.

•         Responsibilities may include:  Assisting in the administration of hardware and software for a staff of over 200 at 15 locations, including assisting when necessary in ordering, tracking, coordinating delivery, repairs and installations; and assisting in keeping Enforcement staff informed via email and at staff meetings about forensic and litigation support issues.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Business (preferably Finance or Accounting), Information Systems, or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience, and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience.  Requires demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, VBScript, Oracle and/or Microsoft SQLServer, and Microsoft Office Professional.  Knowledge of one or more of the following a definite plus: Summation, Concordance, Sanction II, iManage.

Experience with litigation support systems, and document scanning systems a plus.  Investigative experience or experience in law enforcement, audit, or legal environments is a strong plus.

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily performed in a business office setting.  Duties may require occasional lifting and moving of computer hardware and monitors.  Duties may require occasional travel.

Alston & Bird seeks to hire a Financial Systems Specialist in our Atlanta office. With guidance from the assistant controller, performs a variety of accounting duties centered around the Elite Legal Billing System. Duties include, setting up new e-billing clients with custom task and activity codes, configuring e-billing electronic file creation, testing and customizing e-billing configurations, creating and reformatting bill templates, assisting in the implementation and training of Elite related software packages, creating and customizing various reports and spreadsheets from Elite and related systems and maintaining special client rate and discount settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Prepare large, complex client bills via paper (Whitehill/Elite Document Studio) and electronic billing with Elite Legal Billing System and e-billing hub software.
• Familiarity with all major electronic billing client platforms including DataCert/ShareDoc, Tymetrix 360, Serengeti Tracker, Lexis CounselLink, Bridgeway Corridor, Mitratech Collaborati and others.
• Record, analyze and apply special billing arrangements with various clients within Elite using Client rate exceptions, matter rate exceptions and understanding the most efficient ways to record them in the system.
• Implement and support new modules of the Elite Legal Billing System.
• Coordinate installation, set up specialized security, and train secretaries to bill in the Elite Legal Billing System.
• Write SQL statements to analyze client billing history.
• Export data to Microsoft Excel and other tools for further analysis and customization.
• Coordinate with Elite representatives to solve issues that may arise.
• Coordinate with IT department to install Elite upgrades and troubleshoot computer system problems.
• Work with managers in Finance to set appropriate standards and procedures for client billing and managing various financial arrangements on large complex clients.
• Document standards and train other firm billing staff and secretaries on procedures for billing and electronic billing.
• Set up user profiles for billing personnel.
• Interface with attorneys to determine appropriate Elite reports to be generated to meet their informational needs.
• Brainstorm and trouble shoot to solve miscellaneous problems that arise related to billing.
• Generate and print miscellaneous monthly reports including Reminder Statements and specialized matter listings.
• Assist supervisors with special projects as requested.
• Build, maintain, and deliver a professional customer service attitude and relationship with all internal and external contacts.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all financial matters exposed to during the course of performing job duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Ability to express self-effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm. Strong command of the English language. Ability to effectively handle telephone calls with established Firm etiquette and professionalism. Thorough knowledge of Firm and Administrative Support Service standards, practices and procedures to meet Firm personnel demands. Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing workload.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree is required. Previous experience of 5 or more years of related experience. Extensive knowledge of Elite Accounting Software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Alston & Bird is currently searching for an Senior Imaging/Applications Analyst to oversee the creation of the desktop image and serve as team lead for the activities of the image build team. Serve as lead analyst for Altiris and coordinate Altiris training activities for IS personnel. Build software installation packages to install and configure software on user's desktops. Investigate, recommend, and support software applications to solve business problems. Participate as the technical lead on software rollout and upgrade projects. Ensure consistent and favorable service level provided to customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Oversee the creation of the image for desktop workstations and laptop workstations throughout the firm. Serves as team lead for all the activities of the image build team.
• Lead in the administration and configuration of the Altiris suite.
• Train other IS personnel on the use of Altiris.
• Create installation packages for software application installs.
• Work as Team Lead on numerous software applications and coordinates activities of other Applications Analysts as needed.
• Work with IT and Practice Innovation to manage installations via Login Script and Altiris.
• Install new software packages on both Firm PC's and notebook/laptop computers
• Assist users with getting started and becoming self-sufficient with software.
• Work with firm trainers to prepare documentation for applications that are customized for the firm.
• Serves as Subject Matter Expert for assigned Software Applications.
• Provide project management and technical expertise for assigned tasks and responsibilities.
• Assist in technical learning and development of other team members as needed.
• Evaluate and coordinate testing of new software packages, tools and upgrades to existing software packages that may prove useful to computer users at the firm as well as evaluate ease of use and compatibility with firm network.
• Ensure consistent and favorable service level provided to customers. Solicit regular feedback from customers, and make appropriate modifications and enhancements when necessary.
• Ensure critical issues are addressed on a timely basis, escalating to appropriate personnel when necessary.
• Assist in the management of licensing and renewal for software packages as assigned.
• Provide regular input on strategic and tactical direction of Firm's technology infrastructure; requires staying abreast of current and emerging technologies.
• Perform other departmental duties as required

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Prior experience building laptop and desk top images, preferably for a law firm.
• Experience using Altiris or comparable imaging platform.
• Ability to lead a team and participate as a team member
• Excellent leadership, motivational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience building application installations and rolling out applications.
• Strong technical background.
• Ability to communicate effectively with computer users regarding problems and questions.
• Ability to understand and translate technical material for non-technical users.
• Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing projects.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• General knowledge of PC LANs and networks including Microsoft Server environment.
• Ability to quickly learn new applications and upgrades to existing applications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Substantial experience with Altiris or comparable imaging/management tool and experience building laptop and desktop images is required. Building images for a law firm is preferred. Technical Bachelors degree is required. Minimum 5 years of experience in a Windows and network environment. Previous experience in the legal field is desired. Previous experience teaching computer applications and writing documentation for applications is desired.
