Help Desk Support Technician – PA – Philadelphia

- The Information Services Department of Cozen O'Connor, an international law firm with 500+ attorneys, has an immediate opening for a Help Desk Support Technician.  This is a full time position based in Philadelphia and reporting to the Help Desk Manager.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for providing quality desk side and telephone support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timely resolutions for all IT related functions. More specifically:

• Investigate, troubleshoot, train and resolve first level computer software and/or hardware problems.  These include (but are not limited to) MS Office 2003, Open Text DM5, Outlook 2007, remote connectivity, Blackberries/smartphones and printing.
• When appropriate, work with the user remotely to see the actual problem, diagnose the cause, and provide a resolution.
• Weekend and after hours pager support is required when necessary.
• Track frequency and nature of all calls from staff using HEAT call logging software and report recurring desktop issues.
• Assist with ad hoc projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Law Firm experience preferred.
• 2-4 years work experience in an Information Technology Department.
• Candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong aptitude with Windows XP; MSOffice 2003/2007 (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Microsoft Outlook, Open Text Document Management, legal software applications; network printing and general hardware and software configuration is necessary.
• Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Ability and flexibility to work extended hours when needed.

Litigation Support Project Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The IT Department of Arnold & Porter LLP has an opening for a Litigation Support Project Manager in the Washington, D.C. office.  The Project Manager will support individual case teams using litigation technologies as well as maintaining and supporting firm standard litigation support applications (Concordance and Concordance FYI, Opticon, LiveNote, Casemap, Clearwell and Sanction).  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establishing a liaison role with case teams and assisting with any litigation support requirements; understanding the changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, document workflow and the best practices for the preservation, collection, review and production of client data; consulting and advising case teams on best practices for the preparation of documents, matters relating to electronic discovery and how to best use litigation support technologies to support their projects; consulting with legal teams and clients on issues relating to selection of third party hosting vendors and evaluation of proprietary review platforms, proper document production formats and management of vendor bidding and selection process; solving issues creatively to diagnose and address inconsistencies and issues in data received from various parties; ensuring that all assigned outsourced projects are on schedule and coordinating between vendors, Litigation Support staff and case teams; approaching new needs or problems creatively and working with team members to provide effective support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of three years of experience in an active litigation environment.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with one or more imaging applications as well as relational or transcript database applications.
• Experience with litigation support applications (such as Concordance, FYI, Clearwell, iConect, Summation, LiveNote, CaseMap, Sanction) and associated image viewing applications.
• Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent client service, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to take initiative when needed.
• Ability to assume responsibility for projects from beginning to end while determining appropriate tasks.
• Flexibility to work additional hours, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required.

Senior Manager, Enterprise Applications

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The IT Department of Arnold & Porter LLP has an opening for a Senior Manager, Enterprise Applications in the Washington, D.C. office.  The Senior Manager will lead application development and the financial systems functions of the IT Department as well as manage some of the more strategic projects.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Critically evaluating requirements and proposing solutions, setting reasonable expectations with users and working to deliver on these expectations effectively; developing and implementing a technology framework for custom applications in conjunction with the team and Chief Information Officer; designing and communicating software development and support processes which take into account customer input and feedback and which deliver quality results consistently on time; ensuring team compliance; identifying changes in technology tools and techniques; building applications that deliver value to the firm's users using the newer tools and technologies; providing leadership and mentoring to staff including development of training and development plans; developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that projects are delivered with a high degree of quality and in a timely manner via a consistent approach and building rapport with key user contacts across departments and practice groups and advocating solutions that will successfully support their business objectives and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in the management, design, development and delivery of software applications using web-based technologies.
• Experience with MS technologies such as .Net, SQL Server, Visual Basic.
• Familiarity with document management systems, MS SharePoint and Elite and/or Aderant.
• Experience working with end users translating business requirements into results on schedule.
• Significant technical abilities including strong programming and design skills.
• Solid understanding of relational database concepts.
• Ability to handle a variety of projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent client service, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented and flexibility to work additional hours, weekends and/or holidays as needed.
• A four-year degree or equivalent experience is required.
• PMP certification is a plus.
