IT Support Specialist – IL – Chicago

- A Chicago-based law firm is seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist. This position will provide professional and timely customer service/technical support to all of the Firm's end-users, including implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware/software issues, assisting with end-user training, and working with the IT Manager to support and expand the Firm's technology infrastructure.

Qualified candidates will have extensive experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office products; PC compatible hardware, and software, printers, and peripherals; as well as knowledge and experience with SQL Server maintenance, desktop and network operating systems, and law firm specific applications.  Candidates must have three to five years helpdesk/technical support experience in a law firm or professional services environment; college degree in related field preferred (MIS, business); A+, Network+ or MCSA certificates are a plus.

Applications Manager – WA – Seattle

Responsibilities
• Manage projects and resources for new software implementation and existing software upgrades.  Develop project plans, establish and meet target dates and budget.
• Perform administrative duties (coaching, performance planning and evaluations, training, corrective actions, etc.) associated with leading a team of information systems professionals.
• Effectively communicate with department managers, attorneys and/or staff to identify needs and evaluate impacts of application software upgrades.  Manage user interactions and expectations.  Ensure that projects meet business goals, fulfill user requirements, and resolve issues.
• Research application software solutions, assessing their feasibility, and make recommendations in support of firm/department initiatives and needs.
• Coordinate project execution within the IT Department and across multiple offices.
• Manage development of the Portal, insuring that the needs of the user community are being met.  Help establish the Portal as the communications hub of the firm.
• Facilitate communications, build consensus and help insure consistent implementation of software, with exceptional quality control.
• Insure that high-level application support, along with specialized, direct support for department specific applications is provided.  Keep application software up-to-date.
• Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency, and develop strategies for improving and/or leveraging these systems.
• Establish guidelines, policies, procedures, and best practices pertaining to project management and application support.
• Determine outsourcing/consultant/temporary work requirements and work with vendor(s) in meeting the firm's needs in the most cost-effective manner.
• Prepare regular status reports on team activities.  Also prepare written documentation, proposals, and/or recommendations.  Make presentations as needed.
• Participate in systems budget process and other special projects and/or support as required.
• Travel, as necessary.

Qualifications
• BA or BS degree required, MS or MBA preferred.  PMP certification a plus.
• Strong, proven leadership and project management skills acquired from at least eight to ten years' experience as a Project Leader/Manager or Supervisor, leading multiple projects (new technology, conversions, major upgrades) and multi-functional teams, required.  Direct supervisory experience of teams from 10 - 15 people in size required.  Strong team building skills required.
• Experience managing SharePoint Portal installations and development of web-based applications preferred.
• Working knowledge of large LAN/WAN (450+ to 1000+ users) environments required.
• Experience with multiple PC applications (current versions of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) is required.  Experience supporting department specific applications (Accounting, Human Resources, Library, Marketing, Professional Development, Records) preferred.  Exposure to legal specific applications and web related projects a plus.
• Strategic/tactical thinking skills required; able to gather requirements and translate strategic goals into tactical objectives.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization are required.  Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience required.  Experience working with customers possessing a wide range of technical expertise is required.
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills required.  Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner is required.  Ability to quickly assess and assimilate a situation, then adjust approach to fit, is required.
• Strong systems analysis and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality control are required.  Data base and SQL skills are preferred.
• Must be a team player and willing to share information with others.  Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently required.
• Strong decision-making, follow-up, follow-through, and priority setting skills are required.  Demonstrated ability to practice good judgment.
• Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, required.
