GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and direction of the Applications Administration Manager, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Desktop Engineer is responsible for keeping the desktop software and business solutions of the firm operational. The Systems Analyst is also responsible for the integration and deployment of new Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) desktop applications. The Desktop Engineer is responsible for following industry best practices by using a structured Software Development Life Cycle methodology for deploying software. The Desktop Engineer is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's attorneys, advisors and staff, while maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Desktop Engineer must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
• Responsible for regression testing methods, scripts, operational tracking and issue resolution of the desktop environment.
• Serve as Test Engineer for all desktop applications, including hand off responsibilities to Certification and Deployment.
• Ensure successful testing, implementation and transition to a production / steady state operating environment.
• Serve as technical analyst with the ability to plan and manage the full life-cycle of a complex, multi-phase application integration and implementation project, with one resource (self).
• Prepare detailed engineering specifications and documentation as necessary.
• Communicate status and key business information effectively to both management and internal customers.
• Serve as 2nd or 3rd level of escalation help desk support for department software service catalog assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to read, write and speak English
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise in the following:
o Competent in current Microsoft operating systems

o Competent in current Microsoft SCCM and SCOM platforms (or similar technologies)

• Ability to develop techniques, standards and assist in the establishment of written procedures for the firm's Applications Administration Group

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree required (Computer Science or equivalent preferred)
• A minimum of two years of experience in a senior application support role
• Prior experience in a law firm or other professional services firm preferred
