Hardware/User Support Specialist – TX – Houston

Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, a downtown Houston law firm, seeks a full-time Hardware/User Support Specialist to assist with technical and hardware support. The Hardware/User Support Specialist will work as part of the IT team to support end-users with Microsoft Office 2007 and various legal-specific applications. Additionally, this person will be responsible for setting up and troubleshooting desktop PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, PDA devices and A/V equipment. Support is provided via phone, email and documented in a call tracking system.  After-hours on-call rotation and some overtime is required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide end-user technical assistance with software, hardware and network connectivity issues.
• Assist with the installation, set-up, and troubleshooting of hardware, including desktop equipment, printers, PDAs and A/V equipment. 
• Maintain Firm checkout equipment inventory using Microsoft SharePoint.
• Responsible for maintaining hardware inventory for the Houston office.

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2007.
• 3-5 years experience in a HelpDesk and/or hardware support position.
• Strong customer service skills and proven problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of technical expertise.
• Previous experience in a law firm or professional services organization preferred.

SQL DBA – CA – Los Angeles

Our client is seeking a Database Administrator to provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Firm's SQL databases and software applications.

Responsibilities

                      Support and administration of the application support environment including: database administration, maintenance upgrades, server maintenance and performance tuning, writing, maintaining and applying SQL scripts
                      Data imports/exports
                      Develop and maintain operational documentation and procedures
                      Second level user support

Requirements

Successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and three years of recent DBA experience, preferably with legal applications.  Must have experience managing multiple MS SQL databases with skills that include database design, scripting, architecture, security, server configuration, performance optimization, backup strategies and capacity management. In addition, advanced knowledge of database administration principles, practices, system development, and analysis in a SQL and .Net environment is a must.

Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for this position with the ability to work effectively with end users, IT peers and managers. Individual will work as part of the Information Technology Team providing 24x7 support as needed.  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Systems Analyst- Desktop Engineer – DC – Washington

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision and direction of the Applications Administration Manager, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Desktop Engineer is responsible for keeping the desktop software and business solutions of the firm operational. The Systems Analyst is also responsible for the integration and deployment of new Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) desktop applications. The Desktop Engineer is responsible for following industry best practices by using a structured Software Development Life Cycle methodology for deploying software. The Desktop Engineer is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's attorneys, advisors and staff, while maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.  Above all, the Desktop Engineer must fulfill the needs of the firm in a manner which is consistent with the Firm's Core Values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):

•                    Responsible for regression testing methods, scripts, operational tracking and issue resolution of the desktop environment.
•                    Serve as Test Engineer for all desktop applications, including hand off responsibilities to Certification and Deployment.
•                    Ensure successful testing, implementation and transition to a production / steady state operating environment.
•                    Serve as technical analyst with the ability to plan and manage the full life-cycle of a complex, multi-phase application integration and     implementation project, with one resource (self).
•                    Prepare detailed engineering specifications and documentation as necessary.
•                    Communicate status and key business information effectively to both management and internal customers.
•                    Serve as 2nd or 3rd level of escalation help desk support for department software service catalog assigned.
