Freelance Practice Technology Services Analyst – WA – Seattle

We are currently seeking a motivated professional to fill the Freelance Practice Technology Services Analyst position we have available in our Practice Technology department.

While working under the direction of the PTS (Practice Technology Services) Technical Manager the Freelance PTS Analyst will provide technical litigation support to PTS Project Managers, attorneys, paralegals and firm clients.  The PTS Analyst will be responsible for handling client data in accordance with proper chain of custody protocols, ensure data is tracked and stored in an organized fashion and analyze data as appropriate.   PTS Analysts work with PTS Project Managers to design databases and establish workflows to support efficient document reviews and search and retrieval.   PTS Analysts are responsible for generating and performing quality control on document productions from our in-house Concordance system.  PTS Analysts are also responsible for processing data via LAW.   Other applications the PTS Analysts support include LiveNote, CaseMap and Trial Director.  PTS Analysts are responsible for providing software training & support to attorneys, paralegals and clients on litigation applications.  Analysts will interface, coordinate and manage outside service providers.  PTS Analysts are also responsible for monitoring changes in the litigation support software industry along with the rest of the PTS organization.

Qualified candidates will have excellent project management skills, be detail oriented, and will have the ability to meet tight deadlines.  Strong oral and written communication skills are required.  The ability to analyze a problem/project quickly and accurately, and propose out of the box solutions is necessary to succeed in this position.   The position will work as part of a team of Analysts responsible for working and supporting attorneys and paralegals to manage and track discovery data.  Excellent customer service skills are required.  Candidates should be fluent in standard MS Office applications and possess the ability to quickly master new litigation support software.  This position requires expertise in litigation support or litigation paralegal experience with strong technical skills including database management and maintenance.

Application Administrator – DC – Washington

Responsible for design, installation, management, maintenance and replacement of Microsoft-based enterprise and desktop applications used within a law firm. This position requires an experienced IT generalist with the attitude and ability to work hard and fast amid shifting priorities. Strong SQL skills and ability to code in MS language a plus.

Type: Full Time

Primary responsibility is that of design, installation, management, maintenance and replacement of enterprise and desktop applications. This includes installation, configuration, tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, and upgrading of server applications and desktop.  The applications supported include but are not limited to Thomson Elite, MS SharePoint, NetDocuments, Concordance, Carpe Diem, MS Office,  and other legal industry applications.
 
This firm maintains primarily a Microsoft infrastructure and proficiency in at least one related development language and scripting code is highly desirable.  This position requires an experienced IT generalist with the attitude and ability to work hard and fast amid shifting priorities.
 
Essential Functions:  Application Administrator

• Monitor vendor and security organization bulletins for any known security vulnerabilities and bug fixes.
• Provide advanced user support for application issues.
• Establish and monitor application-level security, including routinely applying application patches and other updates.
• Establish automated processes to monitor applications to minimize failures or degraded performance, and alert administrators to problems.
• Develop production, quality assurance (testing), and development environments for the content management infrastructure.
• Research industry trends to plan for future expansion and improvement in enterprise content management infrastructure application support.
• Work with others in IT to design and implement redundant and survivable systems in accordance with disaster recovery planning.
• Provide on-call support to resolve emergency issues outside normal business hours.
• Work with internal technical teams to identify and document future system enhancements
• Communicate problems and problems resolutions to system support personnel to improve ongoing service delivery.
• Communicate with software vendors on design, integration, installations and problem resolutions.
• Perform system administration of MS SQL 2000/2005/2008 systems.
• Organize and report on the progress of ongoing testing, trails, and evaluation of new products and services.
• Monitor and troubleshoot windows applications on the Citrix Farm servers.
• Work with Practice support & Litigation teams to provide software analysis, test and implementation assistance.
• Maintain system documentation pertaining to all applications.
• Ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met.
• Regularly interacts with customer and/or functional per group managers.
 
Requirements

• 7+ years experience working in the IT industry
• To effectively perform in this role the candidate will need strong SQL database skills.
• Database design, administration and development skills are necessary to keep the applications running at peak performance and to increase functionality through integration.
• The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills used to identify, document, and improve company process through the use of technology.
• Must be a self starter - Able to identify issues and work to achieve resolution without constant attention.
• Previous law firm experience
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work independently and solve problems through an analytical approach
• Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule
• Must be able to travel occasionally (very limited and usually scheduled in advance)
• Must possess a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
• Solid understanding of collaboration and content management systems, including supporting infrastructures such as directories, authentication and authorization technologies is a plus.
• Able to install, configure, and support SharePoint Server in an Intranet environment, including application administration and troubleshooting.
• Defining and implementing collaboration environments using SharePoint Designer, test and implement new MS SharePoint features, including Work Flow, Web Forms and other Enterprise features
• Industry certifications a plus
